Frequently Asked Questions
Can I hire an American lawyer in Norway?
Yes, if you need advice or assistance on U.S. or international laws or a legal issue in the United States.I have a formal license from the Norwegian authorities to provide legal assistance (“rettshjelp”) with U.S. and international law in Norway.
Can you help with a Norwegian court case or divorce?
Probably not. If your case involves questions of U.S. and international law, I can advise on those questions, but I cannot advise on Norwegian laws, assist with Norwegian legal processes, or represent you in the Norwegian courts. For that, you may wish to contact a Norwegian “advokat”.
Do I really need a lawyer?
Legal issues can often look deceptively simple, but it all depends on the details. A lawyer can assess your situation, and help you decide if you need further assistance and how much assistance you need. Every case is different and we can tailor our services to your specific needs and budget.
What about the time difference to Norway?
I am licensed in California, but based near Oslo, Norway. For clients based in Norway, we are in the same time zone and you can contact my office or schedule a meeting when it works for you.
Snakker du norsk?
Ja. Jeg er opprinnelig fra Asker.
How can I contact your office?
Send me an email at info@reed.international to schedule a time for an initial consultation.
